Blogging Made Easy
A blog is one of the most effective as well as one of the most popular forms of online communication. It used to be the sole province of individuals, but now many businesses have blogs which are quite popular in their own right. Maintaining a blog provides you with a simply way to keep in touch with your readers and providing them with updates as there is more to report.
Before doing anything else, you have to come up with a topic for your new blog. While starting a blog certainly sounds easy; and in fact it is, this will not be the case if you have not managed to settle on a topic. Blogs which have a narrow focus and cover a single topic or a limited range of related topics tend to become much more popular than those which cast too wide of a net.
However, if you want to start a blog to help promote your business, it is easy to decide on a topic. You should write about your industry in general and your business in particular.
Another thing you will need to decide is whether your blog will be attached to your website, or whether it will be separate. A lot of people will have a blog created in their website so that visitors don’t have to leave the website in order to access the blog. Others like having their blog on a site such as Blogger or Wordpress and will link their blog to their website.
There are different blog platforms that you can choose from, and which you choose really depends on what you want to do with the blog. Blogger is a free blog service that many people go with each year. This is a great blog to choose if you are hoping to make some extra money each month from ads. You can set up a nice-looking blog with a few ads easily with Blogger.
If you are looking to make a more professional looking blog with no ads, Wordpress has become a very popular option. Wordpress has a wider variety of pre-made templates, so it is easier to make a unique blog without making your own background.
If you just want to have a blog with a customized look, then just about any platform will work fine. If you plan to integrate your blog with your current site, be sure to check if your hosting company supports this. If your hosting plan does not include this feature, then you may need to pay a little extra for it.
Many online marketers, especially those selling infoproducts use a blog as their main website. You can create landing pages or sales pages for separate products and link them to your blog easily while promoting your products right on your blog.
Regardless of the type of business you run, you can use a blog to promote your company and give yourself a higher profile online. A blog personalizes your business in the eyes of consumers and since blogs are usually updated frequently, they keep visitors; and the search engines coming back often.
After deciding on a topic, platform and where to host your new blog, the rest is easy. If you run into problems or want to learn about more advanced topics, there are plenty of books, tutorials and other resources available on and off of the web.
